Happy New Year! 2024 was a stressful but rewarding year for me. I am so grateful for all the successes, opportunities, and joys it has brought me. But we must ‘keep mobbing forward’ (bonus points if you get the Meet the Robinsons reference. I am not one to make New Year’s resolutions. But I am a goal-setter and love an excuse to change up my routine a little bit.
One element of my career I’ve been looking to expand is my social media. I started making TikToks in hopes of connecting with more musicians. One of the many reasons I started my blog was to be a resource to anyone wanting to explore composition. I would have loved to see someone’s documented career when I was starting (it honestly feels like I’m still in the beginning stages). Music is a personal art, and everyone’s career is different. So, displaying my live version, wherever it may end up, is special to me. TikTok is just another platform to do it on. It feels more accessible for younger audiences. However, if the clock app goes south, I may have to alter my plans to Instagram Reels.
My umbrella goal for the spring semester is to be on top of my game. I want to be ahead on my class assignments and projects. Between working part-time and other “side quests” I do outside of college, I don’t have time to slack off too much (which I also need time for. Rest is very important). I’m usually a very organized person, but lately, I’ve been feeling a little overwhelmed. I am going to get my head on my shoulders before the semester starts so I can start strong.
For now, those goals are my main focus on top of my usual composing objectives.
