I submitted my final spring semester assignment last week, and I am officially done with my first year of graduate school. It’s crazy to think it’s already halfway over! I had a great spring full of amazing opportunities. From participating in the Young Composers’ Meeting in the Netherlands to completing four rescore class projects with recording sessions (a great addition to my reel), I am truly grateful for all these experiences. It was a great year in the Beal Institute, and I cannot wait for the next (and last 😢).
As I start my summer, I’ll be heading back to PA for a few months (more like weeks 😂). I have some vacation plans that I’m so excited about. I will also be teaching lessons and helping with summer camps at Keystone Music Academy. Then, in August, I’ll be heading to Pavia, Italy, to attend the Screen Music Program (in collaboration with Vittadini Conservatory of Pavia). I am so excited for this opportunity to connect with other film composers and get some more advice on my music.
I also have a lot of music to write this summer. I have some projects I need to finish up, and I need to write ALL the music for my graduate recital. 😅 I’m hoping to have the bulk of it done before the fall semester because I know I won’t have enough free composing time once classes start. Here’s to staying disciplined and having a productive, yet still relaxing, summer!
Until next time,
Rita Veneziale
