Golden Mean

What day is it? I’ve lost track.

I attended the RIT Artist Call again this semester. I have two people currently considering me to be a composer, but nothing is guaranteed yet. Fingers Crossed! I’ve made some progress with the film I have currently. The filmmaker is happy with just a few corrections to make. But we’re definitely heading in a good direction.

My string quartet is such a joy to work on. I used the ‘golden mean’ technique to find the best place to put my climax, and I couldn’t be happier with the results. Now I just have to write the part that comes after that...easier said than done. The end of a piece always tends to be the hardest.

I’ve also been working on a jazz piece. That’s been such a great learning experience. I’m having fun while writing, but it’s new territory. My goal this year is to push myself and get uncomfortable. I guess I’m succeeding.
