Hey, y’all!
It’s been a while since my last post. I’ve been a bit busy recently.
In the time I’ve been gone, I’ve started orchestrating my piece for the college competition. The actual composition is almost done, I just have to write the ending. But moving from the short score to the full orchestration, I’m totally falling in love with this piece. I wasn’t able to make the artist call for RIT this year, but I still submitted my real. I ended up getting two films for this semester and potentially a capstone (to be finished in the Spring). I’m really excited about these projects. I just got them this past week, so the progress is low. But the due dates are mid-November so I’ll have more information in the next post.
I also attended the NYS MTA Conference at the beginning of this month. It was full of information about private piano instruction. The guest speaker specifically spoke on ways to integrate improvisation and jazz into early piano lessons. And since I started studying jazz this semester, I found the information useful from the student perspective.
