What a Whirlwind

The last two weeks have been a whirlwind. The Nazareth University Symphony Orchestra premiered my new orchestral work, Chernobyl. It was a jaw-dropping performance, and I cannot wait to share the recording. The day after the concert, I had my senior composition recital. It was a blast. All the performances went extremely well, and everyone involved had a lot of fun. It was a great weekend.
The following weekend was my senior piano recital. That didn’t go quite as I hoped in some moments, but overall, I’m rather pleased with myself. There was a lot of material to prepare, more than I had ever done before. And I got through each piece with mostly minor mistakes, and nothing threw me off completely. I am proud of what I was able to accomplish these last few weeks.
Now, I am so excited to break back into composition. Now that I’m out of a highly stressed state, I can finally get back to a creative space. It feels freeing and inspiring. I feel more motivated, and I’m looking forward to the summer when I can devote more time to my music without the distraction of other assignments.
That being said, my undergraduate studies are coming to a close. It’s bittersweet. I’ve loved my time at Nazareth and made it my home. I have great friends and feel so comfortable in this space. But I’m looking forward to the next chapter of life, as cheesy as that sounds. You may be wondering what that next step will be…you’ll have to tune in to the next blog to find out. 😉
Until next time,
Rita Veneziale
