Conflicting Thoughts

Happy (early) Halloween!
I’m currently in that part of the semester where I feel like I’m on top of my work and getting things done. But then, at the same time, I feel so far behind I can’t catch up.
I’m making slow progress on graduate applications. I’m hoping to spend my weekend playing ‘catch up’ and hopefully that will help me get my head on my shoulders. The amount of classwork I have has slowed down for the week, so I have some grace in that department.
I’m also hoping to get some time for composition. My orchestra piece is almost done with composition, and I’m starting to flush out the orchestration some more. I’m very pleased with how the piece is coming to be. It has been writing itself. It's quite complicated and different from what I usually write. And I’m enjoying the process. I’m not sure if it will be worth much to others. But a presenter in our composition studio made an interesting point. The value of a piece is determined by how much you need to write it. I got that advice at the exact moment I needed it.
Until next time,
