Tests, Composing, and a New Job

Okay, let’s wrap up the week.

I had my first conducting exam on Monday. I had to go first because, of course, this is the one time the teacher wants to go through the alphabet backward. Anyway, it went well. I ended up getting a 95/100, which I don’t think is bad for my first time. I’m learning a lot from this class and it’s a lot of fun.

I am now finishing the A section of the Chopin piece I’m working on. I’m having a lot of fun with this piece and it’s not as difficult as I thought it would be. Chopin is a very well know composer and sometimes his music can be intimidating but when it’s at its bare bones, it’s just the basic minuet structure. Chopin just didn’t trust anyone to embellish his pieces.

The Notre Dame Choir piece is still being tweaked. I’m getting picky on some of these sections. I haven’t actually finished the piece yet but I really want to get the rest of the piece to sound just the way I want it to before moving on. I don’t want to waste my time writing the end when I don’t like the rest of the piece just yet.

Oh, and I started my new job this week. I am officially a student worker for the Nazareth College Marketing and Communications Department Social Team!
