Motivation is Strong with this One

Hey, y’all!

I’m writing this blog a little early this week because I’m going to see Billy Joel on Thursday!!!! So, bear with me if I miss some details.

I have been so motivated to compose for the past two weeks. It’s been more enjoyable and less frustrating. I’ve been inspired. And, most importantly, I’m actually liking the things I come up with. Everything just seems to fit.

I’ve been juggling some projects over the past two weeks. I’ve done some work on my entry for the Nazareth College Composition Competition. It’s in its early stages right now. I’m just getting the ideas and harmonies lined up in a piano roll before I begin arranging.

I also finished (and started a second) entry for the Spitfire Bridgerton Competition. My first attempt fits in with the period of the show (and is different from the original composer’s music). However, I felt since I had more time before I need to submit, I thought I would try another take on this scene. So, this second attempt is coming out to be a bit different, but I’m not sure what way yet.

My last project for this week is a commission I’m writing for a friend. To be honest, I’ve been procrastinating a bit. I just haven’t found many ideas I think are right for this piece. But I finally found something. It was actually a scraped idea I had from the Bridgerton score that I revamped into a rounded binary form. AND IT SOUNDS SO F*ING COOL! I sent it over to my friend for approval, and she thought the same. I am so excited to continue this project and write the remaining movements.

Anyways, I hope you enjoyed a long update from this week. And I can’t wait for y’all to hear all of the fun music I’ve been working on!
