I am Spider-Man (Iron Man wasn't the Challenge)

Welcome back to the blog. This week I focused on finishing writing my Spider-Man theme for the Composer Challenge group on Facebook. I finalized and uploaded my piece to SoundCloud on Tuesday and I haven’t gotten any feedback on it yet. The voting for the challenge will start over the weekend.

In case you are unfamiliar with the Composer Challenges group, it is a Facebook group where there are challenges open throughout the month for composers to participate in. We do challenges like movie themes (like I did this week), dice chord challenges (where you use selected notes to use as the roots of the chords you use), dice melody challenges (pre-selected melody notes), and many others. I highly recommend this to any composer. They are great exercises. Anyone is allowed to join (by request and a moderator will let you in). I hope to see some new members!

Now that I am finished with my movie theme, I will go back to finishing my female choir piece. I am hoping to have the writing part finished soon so I can begin the editing and start creating an audio file for the competition submission. I also will be working on my final project for a class I took over the break on Classical Music Composition. If you are interested in composing classical music, I highly recommend this course from Coursera. I was lucky enough that my college paid for the class while I was on break but I think it would be worth the money if it is something you are interested in.

Anyways, one more week until classes start! I leave next Saturday for New York! WOO!
